According to information posted by The International Herald on Twitter, 10 Karachi police officers died in clashes that broke out in the Pakistan city. It also claimed that a ‘civil war’ has broken out following clashes between Sindh police and the Army. As per more reports coming in, heavy clashes are ongoing between Karachi Police and Army in Karachi. Internet services snapped in nearby areas now. Firing is also reported at some places. Bomb Blasts are happening everyday targetting civilians. Tensions are escalating in Karachi. “Go Bajwa Go Niazi” slogans can be heard on streets.

What happened recently?

Reportedly, Safdar and his wife, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz had visited the Karachi to attend a rally of the opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) against Pakistan government, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistan Army.

At the protest, Safdar had allegedly chanted slogans such as, “Give respect to the vote!”. Reportedly, these slogans are viewed in Pakistan as a strong criticism against Pakistan’s military, which has often ruled Pakistan directly or indirectly for the last seven decades. An FIR was registered against Safdar, Maryam and 200 others for ‘violating the sanctity’ of the grave.

Soon after the arrest, former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair – who is also the spokesperson of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz claimed that Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) Mushtaq Mahar was coerced into arresting Safdar. He said that the Rangers kidnapped Mahar at 4 AM and took him to military office where he was forced to issue arrest orders for Safdar.

On October 19, Maryam took to Twitter to inform that her husband was arrested by police. On early morning of 19-October 2020, she tweeted, “Police broke my room door at the hotel I was staying at in Karachi and arrested Capt. Safdar.”

She said she was sleeping in the hotel room when the police barged in and arrested her husband. She alo retweeted the tweet of the journalist Syed Talat Hussain with twitter handle @TalatHussain12 who shared the video showing the hotel room door was broken into.

However, Pakistan’s Minister and PTI leader Ali Haider Zaidi had refuted the claim and appreciated ‘quick action’ against the ‘hooligans’ who ‘disrespected’ the mausoleum of Jinnah.

Ali Haider Zaidi with twitter handle @AliHZaidiPTI Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs. Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan tweeted, “A message for all those chanting slogans for the sanctity of vote: Character, behavior & morality defines the sanctity of vote. Criminals chanting empty slogans will not protect the vote neither the rights of voters. This nation will not tolerate corrupt politicians any more.”

Safdar and his wife, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, were in the city to attend a rally of the opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) when he was arrested from their hotel for allegedly disrespecting the mausoleum of the country’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah. He was subsequently released on bail.

Top Brass of Sindh Police apply for mass leave

Because, Sindh Police Chief got kidnapped and was taken to an undisclosed location before arrest of Maryam’s husband. There is an anger in Sindh Police top brass over the high handendness of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI imposing the Punjabi rule on Pakistan Occupied Sindhudesh. It is kind of a civil war in Karachi with Sindh Police on one side and Pakistan Army and Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI on the other.

All ranks of Sindh Police have been demoralised and shocked” as Police High Command ridiculed by Pakistan Army/ ISI goons. As per reports, top brass of Sindh Police have applied for leave for 60 days. IG Sindh, DIG HQ, CCPO Karachi, all 8 DIGs of Karachi, 5 DIGs in Interior Sindh applied for leave. We were able to obtain Leave applications of some of the High ranking Police officers of Sindh Police. After IG rank and DIGs, SP, SSP and SHO ranks of Karachi Police also have applied for leave application for 60 days.

However as per a Sindhi Ex-Pakistan Army in Turbat, “The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is an ISI project, it’s main objective is to ensure the drama goes on, uttar failure of Imran Khan and huge burden on punjabis has forced fauji foundation to think of alternatives who would allow their loot to continue. It’s highly unlikely that COAS General Bajwa led cartel running Fauji Foundation would be sacrificed. But if need arise even Bajwa can be sacrificed to protect interest of fauji foundation, by allowing criticism of Pakistan Army, the business entity is ensuring no one question them the real owners of Pakistan, freedom cannot come as long as fauji foundation is operational. What interests army to ensure an amicable political leadership is the huge business empire they run over blood of Pakistani citizens. End all businesses run by fauji foundation and Pakistan will become a normal state, fight is between Enslaved civilians and fauji foundation owners who own the army and through them politicians who in turn control every aspect of life in Pakistan. Demolish fauji foundation to gain independence.”

He further said, “Sindh police is an armed force, there is no reason why it should accept being made a joke and pushed to corner. First thing SP of Sindh Police should do is to drop all cases against Leader of masses Altaf Hussain and act as first armed force of SindhuDesh. Flag of Pakistan has failed it’s time to salute flag of Sindhudesh.”

Sindh Bar Council also condemned the complete breakdown of the rule of law and called it an undeclared martial law.

Countrywide Protests by The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)

The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) began its countrywide protest campaign against the incumbent government by holding a maiden power show in Gujranwala on Friday, which the opposition termed a “decisive referendum against the incompetent” rulers.

The PDM, comprising around a dozen opposition parties on a joint platform to get rid of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was formed last month and had planned six big rallies across the country until December to force the government to call fresh elections.

Top leaders of all major parties, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PDM president and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman, were present at the gathering held at Jinnah Stadium.

The venue was decorated with flags and banners of all opposition parties, where tens of thousands of the opposition supporters were shouting “Go Imran go. Your time is up!”

In their addresses, the heads of the PDM constituent parties fired a broadside against the government and particularly made Prime Minister Imran Khan the target of their trenchant criticism, accusing him of failure in fulfilling the promises he made to the people before the 2018 elections.

Addressing the rally from London, deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, continuing with his aggressive rhetoric, fired a broadside not only against the prime minister but also against the establishment for stealing public mandate.

Speaking to a jam-packed stadium, Sharif, who was the first of the main opposition leaders to address the roaring crowd, said, “This incompetent government has made lives of the masses miserable.”

“Prices of commodities like sugar and floor have doubled in just two and half years of Imran Khan’s tenure. Medicines and medical treatment is now out of the common man’s reach. But who should we hold responsibility, the incompetent bunch or the ones who brought Imran to power.”

He said that in his 35-year career, he has found the PTI to be the most corrupt government. “They were not only corrupt but also massively incompetent- who have failed on all fronts, let it be economic or diplomatic.”

He said that Imran cannot get away with billions spent on Bani Gala and Zaman Park residences just with an NRO given by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Saqib Nisar. Sharif also said that Imran will have to answer for the foreign funding case and for allowing sugar export despite its shortage.

He asked the masses as to who should be held accountable for the people’s problems, “Prime Minister Imran Khan or those who brought him” to power by “rigging” the 2018 elections. He told the people not to be afraid anymore to find out who was responsible for their problems.

The PML-N vice president in her speech referred to herself as the voice of every Pakistani, who could not speak for themselves against the ruling PTI.

“I have brought the case of labourers to you today. I have brought a case against the judiciary and media,” Maryam said, adding that the government had snatched the media’s freedom of speech.

“The media who wanted to support the truth was caught by NAB [National Accountability Bureau] or fired,” she said.

Criticising the PTI government, Maryam said that the people who do not respect vote, “their condition remains unstable”.

“When the vote is not respected, this is the condition of the people,” said the PML-N leader, pointing towards high inflation.

“Cases were lodged against us and we were threatened. The government blocked routes but it could not do anything.”

Blast in Gulshan-i-Iqbal building in Karachi

At least five people died and 20 others were injured in an explosion in a multi-storey building near Maskan Chowrangi in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal area on Wednesday 21-October 2020, according to officials from the Edhi Foundation.

Footage showed the infrastructure of the building was badly damaged. The blast was suspected to have taken place on the second floor of a building. Eyewitnesses reported that windows of nearby buildings as well as some vehicles were also damaged.

However the Pakistan Army controlled Pakistan media was quick to run the news provided by Pakistan ISPR that the explosion occurred due to a “leakage of gas”. Some Pakistani social media users controlled by Pakistan ISPR attributed the blast due to gas cylinder blast.

We checked with some locals and they said the building has gas supplied through the gas pipeline and the leakage in a gas pipeline in the households cannot cause a powerful explosion that can bring down the building made of reinforced cement concrete (RCC).

Moreover, the gas company supplying gas in the area also said that there was no leakage in the gas pipeline.

As per a forensic expert we spoke with, agreed with the locals that this was a powerful blast that can only be caused by powerful explosives that can bring the RCC structure down. There were no signs of fire marks on the walls that are ususally seen in the event of a fire due to gas leakage. It is possible that either the bombs were being assembled in the building that went off bringing the building down or was a deliberate effort of some people to assassinate their political opponents.

The speed with which the gas leakage theory was propagated by the Pakistan Army controlled media leads to the belief that Pakistan Army or Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI is behind the blast and is trying to downplay the blast as an accident.

IED blast at Sheerin Jinnah bus terminal

Five people were wounded when a bomb exploded at the entrance of a bus terminal near Sheerin Jinnah Colony on Tuesday 20-October 2020, said police officials and hospital sources.

Selani Welfare Trust’s Van got fire.

In another incident the Selani welfare Trust’s van carrying ration was set to fire. It is not clear if it was set on fire or was it accidently caught fire.

The intensity with which the van burnt could mean that it was set on fire as the vans that are supposed to carry ration cannot burn unless they were transporting flammable material illegally.

Points to Ponder

Does Pakistan deserve to exist? What sort of scene is this that soldiers of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Occupied Sindhudesh Police are figthing with each other and proscribed terrorists are watching from the sides eating popcorn.

A failed state where IG is kidnapped, police fights army. Politicians like Benazir Bhutto, Salman Taseer, Akbar Bugti are killed at sickening frequency. Anarchy is the way of life. Hindus and Christians are kidnaped and raped. And for a member which is a part of United Nations Human Rights Council UNHCR, What sort of a bloody joke is this?
