Hand to Hand Combats seems to be used in the wars in coming months between India and China. Is India Ready for it? Does every Indian Soldier besides the Guns and ammunition, have enough weapons for self defence as well as killing the enemy?
Fighting to the death whilst so close to your opponent must have been a terrible ordeal. The recent combat between treacherous Chinese Soldiers armed with nail studded rods and the unarmed Indian Soldiers proved it. 300 Chinese PLA Soldiers armed with Rods studded with Nails attacked the unarmed 55 Indian Soldiers.
Result? The world knows, 20 Brave Indian Soldiers martyred and over 60 Chinese coward sissy kids dead despite having the nail studded.
India has an agreement with China not to use any fire arms on the border conflicts. Hence as we mentioned in our previous article Indian Armed Forces Defend Indian Territory from Chinese PLA Invasion, there was stone pelting between Indian and Chinese Soldiers.
Recently Indian unarmed soldiers were ambushed by the Chinese holding Iron Rods with Nails studded.
Is this the first instance that hand to hand combats happened in the history of modern wars? or did in the past the armies had to engage in hand to hand combat?
What can India Do in immediate future to arm all their Soldiers in the mountain divisions with credible defence in case of hand to hand combat?
Indian ‘Khukri’ the carved knife
Khukri is the best weapon every soldier in some of the India Army regiments carry.
A shop in Uttrakhand’s Dehradun in India, which claims to have been supplying the indigenous made carved ‘Khukri’ knife to the Indian Army for over four decades says now orders are now coming in from other countries such as the US.
The Khukri knife has a distinct recurve in the blade and is the characteristic weapon of the Assam Rifles, the Assam Regiment, the Garwhal Rifles, the Gorkha Regiments of the Indian Army.
Will Indian Government procure these Khukri knives and arm each of Indian Soldier in frontline for hand to hand combat with Chinese PLA?

World War 1 Hand to hand Combat weapons
This hand-held WW1 German combat weapon – spring cosh showed up last night at the collectors club. In amongst a bundle of bayonets, at first it didn’t register what it was – by the time I realized what it was – too late it had gone. 37cm long, wooden handle, heavy spring with a weighty steel ball on the end. No makers mark.

AN, (salty), Austrian-hungarian fighting knife, 1917 pattern, aka “Sturmmesser”.
Such combat knives aren´t that hard to find in Austria.
Came across a picture of Russian Troops surprisingly fighting along side French Troops in the Champagne 1916. Looking at the picture, one Russian soldier appears to be holding aloft a rolling pin with spiked metal inserts, another allied close combat weapon, (hope its not a Russian hand grenade)
Here are 2 trench clubs. The first one is a British officers club made from a wood shaft, with a lead knob hammered on. The knob is woven in leather, and leather covers the top part of the shaft. the rest is some sort of hardened woven fabric. It almost seems like melted wax was absorbed into the fabric material. And a basic leather wrist strap.
The second is a bit if a jimmy-rigged club made by a Canadian soldier. The shaft on this was made of a heavy spring increasing the blow when swung. There is a leather bag, filled with little shot pellets, and woven in leather. Thick string and a tree sap like substance (which is crusty and mostly gone) were used to tie it all together. I’m guessing there was some sort of wrist wrap on it but the glue/string is coming loose so it may be lost.
