(Washington DC): Sindhis are living in fear in Pakistan Occupied Sindhudesh. It’s time the world must speaks up for Sindhudesh. Sindhi nation is forced to live under terrifying fear of Pakistani military. Cities of Sindh now gives look of military cantonments & barracks.

The Pakistan Rangers (Punjab & Sindh) are responsible for guarding Pakistan’s international border around 2212 km with India. It is a paramilitary, federal law enforcement organization in Pakistan. During 1948, the unit was re-designated as Sindh Police Rangers. In 1956, this unit was then renamed as Indus Rangers. Due to deteriorating Law and Order situation in upper Sindh, Headquarters Mehran Force was established in Karachi in 1989 to deal with the situation.

In 1995, Pakistan Rangers was divided into the Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) and the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the Mehran Force was then merged into Pakistan Rangers (Sindh). Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) is governed by Ranger’s Ordinance 1959 and operates under control Ministry of Interior and Headquarters 5 Corps with approx 25k active personal in Sindh. This paramilitary force is totally funded by Sindh government. They are living on taxes of Sindhi people and resources of Sindh.

Many times even Sindh government has accepted that Pakistan Rangers is blackmailing everyone in Sindh & accessing beyond their power. We remember the kidnapping of Inspector General of Sindh.

In Sindh this paramilitary organization is used to terrorize local Sindhi people. Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) is primarily a border protection force, but in name of bad law & order situation in Sindh, they were deployed in Sindh in large numbers. Now they are terrorizing Sindhi nation, grabbing land of Sindh, torturing common people of Sindh on daily basis. Recently a circular was issued by Sindh government on demand of federal government to allot the land to Pakistan Rangers in various cities of Sindh. For what purpose? Still no reason is given! A border paramilitary organization is looking for land in cities of Sindh?

When already hundreds of thousands of hectares of land in Sindh is occupied by Pakistani forces, each Inch of land of Sindh is under boots of Armed forces, there are approx 27 cantonments of military forces in Sindh. Why they need more land? To terrorize Us? To create more fear? So that peace loving people’s of Sindh die because of their atrocities in fear? Pakistan is trying to suppress us. They want us to live under shadow of their guns? Is this not a human rights violations? Is this not breaking of international laws of UN about fundamental rights? How long the world will keep quiet? Does historical Sindhi nation has no right of living freely? Are we not humans? Will we die in hands of Pakistani military? Under their persecution? Still how long we secular Sindhi people have to suffer? Has UN become blind & deaf?

According to the 1994 Human Rights in Developing Countries Yearbook, there have been many cases of political persecution in Sindh. Pakistan Rangers has become element of terror in Sindh especially in urban population of Sindh. On other hand much of the persecution is linked to Sindh’s provincial government, and is undertaken by Karachi’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA). Many human rights abuses were committed under the tenure of Chief Minister Jam Sadiq Ali who took office from August 6, 1990 to March 5, 1992. Under his tenure, our Sindhi independence leader G. M. Syed was placed under house arrest until his death. Pakistan Rangers and military intelligence was behind this plan of political persecution. In a 2012 statement issued by Asian human rights commission it said that: “In Sindh province more than 100 nationalists were abducted and disappeared from 2000 till 2015 where 45 were extra judicially killed. Their tortured and bullet riddled bodies were dumped on the streets and some of them were burnt alive by intelligence agencies officials. The main role was played by Pakistan Rangers.

If we look later In May 2018, the families of disappeared political activists staged a hunger strike in protest of their family members and in turn were attacked by security forces Rangers. The assault was almost immediately condemned by US congressman Brad Sherman.

In 2011 incident of Sarfaraz Shah, who was shot by members of the Sindh branch of the Pakistan Rangers in Karachi, the incident was recorded by a local television cameraman, Abdul Salam Somroo. After the channel he worked for, Samaa TV, refused to air the footage, Somroo had the footage broadcast on another Pakistani national channel. After the footage of the incident spread, other media companies, national and international, aired the footage as well. The cameraman left Karachi with his family after receiving numerous threats. The video shows Sarfaraz Shah in a black T-shirt being dragged by his hair in a public park by a man in plain clothes. He was then pushed towards a group of uniformed Rangers, disembarking from a pick up truck, one of them approaching him aggressively, armed with G3 battle gun. Shah, who did not appear to be armed, pleaded for his life as one of the Rangers pointed a gun at his neck. The Ranger then shot him twice at close range with the rifle and hit him in the thigh and arm. Shah can be seen writhing on the ground, screaming in pain, bleeding heavily, and begging for help as the video ends he was not taken to hospital as he died of blood loss. This brutalist killing of Shah exposed Pakistan Rangers fascist face locally and internationally.

Recently IGP Sindh was ‘kidnapped’ by Pakistan Rangers who forced him to file an FIR for Safdar’s ( Ex PM Nawaz Sharif Sone in law ) arrest. The development caused extreme bitterness among the police officers who retaliated by submitting leave of absence. Almost the entire top brass of the police, including three Additional IGs, 25 DIGs, 30 SSPs and dozens of SPs, DSPs and SHOs across Sindh, tendered leave applications, as a protest against the “resentment and heartache caused to all ranks of the force” by the unfortunate incident of 18/19 October 2020. The incident sent shockwaves across top Army brass with Army Chief Bajwa himself stepping in and ordering an inquiry into the ‘Karachi incident’ of kidnapping of IGP Sindh police.

In Sindh our all educational institutes, universities & colleges even boys & girls hostels are under control of this paramilitary organization. In name of security during checking before entering & going out from hostel they always harass & misbehave with students. Even student politics is not allowed anymore in educational institutions in Sindh, all student organizations are banned in colleges & universities of Sindh. In recent years we have witnessed enforced abductions by these paramilitary forces of students from institutions. In October 2011, Asian human rights commission issued an appeal, on the basis of information it had received, that the Sindh University authorities allegedly used law enforcement agencies for disappearances of students in Sindh province as Pakistan Rangers controls the university.

Punjabi, Pakistani establishment, federal government & Pakistani military must stop their atrocities, inhuman behavior & suppression of Sindhi nation immediately. UN & World’s civilized countries must play their role to save indigenous Sindhi people.
