Irritated China imposed sanctions on 28 former Trump administration officials, including outgoing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, on Wednesday.

In a statement released just minutes after President Biden took office, China’s foreign ministry said it had decided to sanction those “who have seriously violated China’s sovereignty and who have been mainly responsible for such U.S. moves on China-related issues.”

The list of names features former Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, former National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien, former U.N. ambassador Kelly Craft and recently resigned Deputy National Security Adviser Matthew Pottinger. Former national security adviser John Bolton and former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon were also included.

The sanctions prohibit those individuals and their immediate family members from entering mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. They are also restricted from doing business with China, as are any companies or institutions associated with them.

The move comes just one day after Pompeo issued a forceful statement accusing China of committing genocide against Muslim Uighurs and other minority groups in its Xinjiang region, for which the U.S. sanctioned several Chinese officials in July. That was one of numerous instances of sanctions, visa bans and trade restrictions imposed on Chinese politicians and Communist Party officials in the Trump administration’s final year.

These sanctions are seen by many as the victory of Trump Administration for standing up against the Bio-Terrorist and Human Rights Abuser China that has threatened not only its immediate neighbours but also the entire world with its imperialist motives. Despite several threats by Chinese Government, Trump stood tall and took every possible action against China.

Some Courageous Actions by Trump Administration that Rattled China

The Trump administration had issued an executive order on Thursday 12-November 2020, prohibiting Americans from investing in Chinese firms that are deemed controlled by the Chinese military.

Of the nearly 5,000 active FBI counterintelligence cases currently underway across the country, almost half are related to China. And at this very moment, China is working to compromise American health care organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and academic institutions conducting essential COVID-19 research.”

Mike Pompeo had gone to the extent of saying that Taiwan has not been a part of China. China got so much rattled that it threatened to strike back.

Earlier US Stock Exchanges including NYSE delisted Chinese Oil majors and Chinese Telecom giants with links to China’s Military to comply with the executive order signed by US President Donald Trump in November.

The world is increasingly aware of how the Chinese Communist Party is using its foreign engagements to influence, interfere, and coerce.  

The awareness is disturbing and even shocking for many people, because for decades the United States and other countries forged links with China based on the optimistic, good-faith expectation that shared prosperity and trust would result from our diplomacy, trade and investment, and media, academic, and people-to-people exchanges. The sad and dangerous reality, however, is that the Chinese Communist Party has chosen to weaponize these engagements. It uses them as channels for malign purposes.  

Former President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had been very vocal in their criticism of Human Rights Abuses by China against Uyghur Muslims.

Even a Bill to recognize Tibet as a “Separate and Independent Country” was Introduced in the US Congress. US House Representative Scott Perry from Pennsylvania introduced a bill (H.R. 6948) that would “authorize the President to recognize the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China as a separate, independent country, and for other purposes”.
